The 5 Best NMN Supplements in the UK: Reviewed & Ranked
Compare five NMN supplements by dose, purity, testing and formulation. See our top picks and which may suit you best.
NMN has moved from laboratory curiosity to one of the most searched longevity supplements in the UK.
That popularity has produced a crowded market. Doses range from 250mg to over 1,000mg. Some products are plain capsules, some dissolve under the tongue, some are combined with other ingredients and some use liposomal delivery. Testing information varies from batch certificates to nothing at all.
This guide explains what NMN is, what human research has actually found, and which product best fits a simple daily routine.
Our five picks at a glance
Charava NMN 500mg
A clear 500mg dose in one vegan capsule, with stated 99.8% purity and third-party testing.

Read review ↗What human research actually shows
NMN stands for nicotinamide mononucleotide, a naturally occurring molecule the body uses to make NAD+, a coenzyme involved in hundreds of cellular processes, including energy metabolism. NAD-related metabolism changes with age, which is why NMN has attracted so much interest.
That interest is legitimate and easy to overstate. NMN has not been shown to reverse ageing or extend human lifespan, and to our knowledge, no health claim for NMN is authorised in the UK.
Oral NMN raises blood NAD markers
This is the most reliable finding. A randomised trial of 250mg a day for 12 weeks reported a significant rise in whole-blood NAD+. A separate trial in 80 healthy middle-aged adults compared 300mg, 600mg and 900mg a day against placebo and found higher blood NAD concentrations in the NMN groups.
Broader health outcomes are not established
Raising a biomarker is not the same as improving health. A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis found oral NMN increased NAD-related biomarkers, but effects on clinically meaningful outcomes were much less consistent. Another review found improvements in glucose, insulin and blood lipids were not reliably demonstrated.
Long-term effects are unknown
Most trials lasted weeks or a few months. Safety and effectiveness over years, rather than weeks, has not been studied, so treat anything that promises long-term results as ahead of the evidence.
Novel food, with no authorised claims
NMN is being assessed as a novel food in Great Britain. Novel foods must be authorised before they can be marketed, and the Food Standards Agency's register lists the application for β-nicotinamide mononucleotide (RP-2116) as in risk assessment, as at 20 October 2026. Ask any seller how they are meeting that requirement.
These points describe NMN and its research generally. Product rankings do not imply that one brand produces greater health benefits than another.
Capsule, tablet, liposomal or combination: does the format matter?
Possibly, but the evidence does not yet say which format is best. The largest body of human NMN research used conventional capsules, and the other formats are mostly supported by rationale rather than head-to-head trials.
Conventional capsules
The format behind most human trials, and the simplest to understand. Check how many capsules deliver the stated dose.
Fast-dissolve tablets
Chewed or dissolved under the tongue, sometimes called sublingual. They suit people who dislike capsules, but we are not aware of trials showing a clear advantage in outcomes.
Liposomal NMN
Liposomal products wrap an ingredient in phospholipids. The rationale is sound, but oral liposomes still pass through the digestive tract, and "liposomal" describes an approach rather than a standard. One small 2025 study (15 men, five per group) found a larger rise in blood NAD+ with a liposomal formulation. It is an encouraging signal, not proof.
Combination formulas
NMN plus extras such as quercetin or piperine. They are harder to compare, and it is harder to know which ingredient does what. If your goal is simply to take NMN, a single-ingredient formula is easier to judge.
What to look for in an NMN supplement
A good NMN product should make its quality easy to understand. These are the details we prioritise.
01. A clearly stated dose
The label should state the NMN per recommended serving, and say how many capsules or tablets make up that serving.
02. Disclosed purity
A purity figure, ideally supported by a certificate of analysis, tells you how much of the capsule is actually NMN.
03. Independent testing
Look for testing you can inspect, not just a claim. Check who tested it and whether results are published.
04. A transparent ingredient list
Single-ingredient products are the easiest to judge. Check the capsule material and any other ingredients.
05. Appropriate manufacturing
Look for where the product is made and to what standard, such as GMP certification.
06. Claims that match the evidence
Be wary of brands promising to reverse ageing or treat conditions. No health claim for NMN is authorised in the UK.
Four buying mistakes worth avoiding
Choosing the biggest number
There is no established optimal dose, and human trials have used 250mg to 900mg. A higher figure on the label is not automatically better, and it costs more per month.
Treating "liposomal" as proof
It is a delivery approach with early, small-scale evidence. Dose, purity and testing remain the better guide.
Ignoring how many capsules you need
A 500mg dose can be one capsule or four. Check the serving size and the number of days a pack lasts before comparing prices.
Overlooking the regulatory position
NMN is still going through the novel food process in Great Britain. Buy from sellers who are open about their position and where the product is made.
Five NMN supplements. One clear daily-routine pick.
Our ranking prioritises a clearly stated dose, disclosed purity, testing information, simplicity of daily use and value. We reviewed published specifications; we have not physically tested all five products.
Charava NMN 500mg
A clear 500mg dose in one vegan capsule a day, with stated 99.8% purity and nothing else added.
Our first choice for adults who want a mid-range studied dose in the simplest routine, from a single-ingredient, UK-made, third-party tested product.
Reasons to choose it
- 500mg in a single capsule, within the 250mg to 900mg range used in human trials.
- Purity stated at 99.8%, with a certificate of analysis on the product page.
- Third-party tested in the USA for quality and safety, according to the brand.
- UK-made, according to the product page.
- One ingredient in a vegan hypromellose capsule, free from artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, gluten, soy and GMOs.
- 60 and 90-day supplies reduce the cost per capsule.
Points to consider
- Costs more per month than lower-dose options such as Double Wood, though less per milligram.
- Conventional capsule, so it is not a liposomal or sublingual format.
- The human trials used other NMN products, so the evidence is borrowed.
- The novel food position applies to NMN products generally.
Why it takes our top spot
Charava is one of two products here that deliver their full serving in a single capsule, and it pairs that with a stated purity figure, a certificate of analysis, third-party testing and a one-ingredient formula.
It is not the cheapest. At £44.99 for 30 capsules it costs more per month than Double Wood, but per milligram of NMN it is the lower of the two, and it needs half the capsules. Neurogan offers a higher dose in one capsule, but 900mg is at the top of the range studied in mainstream trials, and there is no evidence that more is better.
If batch-level testing detail matters most, look at Renue. If you want a high dose, look at Neurogan. If you want a simple, mid-range daily capsule from a UK-made product, this is our pick.
See available options, ingredient details and customer reviews on Charava's product page.
Renue By Science Fast Dissolve NMNs
Strengths
- Tablets can be chewed or dissolved under the tongue, an alternative to capsules.
- 125mg per tablet: two tablets give 250mg, and 240 tablets give 120 servings.
- Lab testing is stated by the brand and reported by independent reviewers.
Considerations
- A lower daily dose than our top pick, in a two-tablet serving.
- A US brand: check UK delivery and import costs.
- No clear evidence that sublingual delivery produces better outcomes.
Our verdict: The right choice if you want a tablet instead of a capsule. Check whether test results for your batch are published before you buy.
Neurogan NMN 900mg
Strengths
- 900mg of β-NMN in a single capsule, with nothing else on the supplement facts panel.
- A 90-capsule pack lasts 90 days.
- Vegetable cellulose capsule; made in the USA to cGMP standards, according to the brand.
- Neurogan says independent lab results are published on each product page.
Considerations
- 900mg is at the top of the range studied in mainstream human trials, and more is not clearly better.
- A US brand: check UK delivery and import costs.
- Higher dose means a larger daily commitment of NMN.
Our verdict: A fit for buyers who have decided they want a high dose. There is no established optimal dose, so a higher number is not a reason in itself.
Double Wood NMN 250mg
Strengths
- 125mg capsules: two a day give 250mg, matching the dose in one of the better-known trials.
- Purity stated at 99%, with third-party testing and certificates of analysis, according to the brand.
- Stocked by UK retailers: about £28 for 60 capsules at Healf at the time of writing.
Considerations
- Two capsules for the full daily serving.
- Made in the USA.
- No specialist delivery system, so it is less differentiated than the options above.
Our verdict: A straightforward, lower-cost way to start at a modest dose.
Nutri NMN+ Max Strength
Strengths
- 1,000mg of NMN per two-capsule serving, with 25mg of quercetin phytosome and 5mg of black pepper extract.
- Vegetarian capsules; the listing states third-party lab testing.
- A 60-capsule pack lasts 30 days.
Considerations
- The extras make it harder to compare with single-ingredient products.
- 1,000mg is above the 900mg top of the mainstream trial range.
- A US brand: check UK delivery and import costs.
Our verdict: A choice for people who specifically want a multi-ingredient formula. If your goal is simply to take NMN, a single-ingredient product is easier to judge.
Competitor comparisons refer to the named product or version, not the brand's entire range. Product specifications and availability can change. Missing information does not mean a product is untested or poor quality.

NMN supplements: your questions answered
Clear answers to the questions people ask most about NMN supplements in the UK. Last reviewed 20 October 2026.
NMN basics
What is NMN?
NMN is nicotinamide mononucleotide, a naturally occurring molecule the body uses to produce NAD+, a coenzyme involved in energy metabolism and many other cellular processes.
It is found in small amounts in foods, and supplements supply it in much larger amounts.
What is the difference between NMN and NAD+?
NMN is a precursor, and NAD+ is the coenzyme that does the work inside cells. The body converts NMN into NAD+.
NAD+ supplements exist too, but they are a different product with their own regulatory and evidence questions.
What is the difference between NMN and NR?
Both are NAD+ precursors that the body can convert into NAD+, but they are different molecules with different routes into the cell.
Trials exist for both, and we are not aware of evidence showing that one clearly outperforms the other on health outcomes.
Why do people take NMN?
People take NMN because NAD-related metabolism changes with age, and they are interested in supporting it.
No health claim for NMN is authorised in the UK, and human trials show a reliable rise in blood NAD markers but much less consistent effects on health outcomes.
Has NMN been studied in humans?
Yes. Several human trials have reported increases in blood NAD-related measurements after oral NMN.
Evidence for broader health benefits is much less consistent, and most trials have lasted weeks or months.
Choosing an NMN supplement
What is the best NMN supplement in the UK?
The best choice depends on what matters to you. Our overall pick is Charava NMN 500mg, because it delivers 500mg in a single capsule with stated 99.8% purity, third-party testing and a one-ingredient vegan formula.
For a fast-dissolve tablet, look at Renue. For a high dose, Neurogan. For a lower-cost modest dose stocked in the UK, Double Wood.
What should I look for when buying NMN?
Look for a clearly stated dose, disclosed purity, independent testing, a transparent ingredient list, appropriate manufacturing standards and claims that match the evidence.
Also check how many capsules or tablets make up a serving, because that changes both convenience and cost.
Does more NMN mean a better supplement?
No. Dose is one factor among several, and purity, testing, transparency and formulation matter just as much.
Human trials have used between 250mg and 900mg a day, and no study has shown that a higher dose is better for everyone.
Is liposomal NMN better than regular NMN?
Not proven. One small study found a larger rise in blood NAD+ with a liposomal formulation, but it involved only five people per group.
Larger independent studies are needed, and the biggest body of human research used conventional capsules.
Is sublingual or fast-dissolve NMN better than capsules?
There is no clear evidence that it is. Dissolving NMN under the tongue is a matter of preference, and we are not aware of trials showing better health outcomes than capsules.
Tablets suit people who dislike swallowing capsules, and capsules suit people who dislike the taste.
Are NMN combination formulas worth it?
Not necessarily. Formulas that add quercetin, piperine or other ingredients are harder to compare, and it is harder to know which component is doing what.
If your goal is simply to take NMN, a single-ingredient product is easier to judge.
How much does NMN cost per month in the UK?
At the time of writing, Charava NMN 500mg is £44.99 for 30 capsules (£85.49 for 60 days and £121.49 for 90 days), and Double Wood NMN 250mg is about £28 for 60 capsules at Healf.
Compare the cost per milligram as well as per month: Charava costs less per milligram of NMN than Double Wood, because its capsule has twice the dose. US brands may add delivery and import costs.
Dose and daily use
What is the best dose of NMN?
No optimal dose has been established. Human trials have used between 250mg and 900mg a day, with higher amounts tested in short safety studies.
Follow the directions on the product you choose, and do not exceed the amount it advises.
Is 500mg of NMN a high dose?
No. It sits in the middle of the range used in human research, between the 250mg and 900mg doses tested in published trials.
That makes it a practical middle ground rather than a headline number.
When is the best time to take NMN?
There is no good evidence that timing matters. Morning is the most common choice, and Charava's guidance is one capsule in the morning.
The best time is whenever you will remember it every day.
How long does NMN take to work?
Trials measured changes in blood NAD levels over weeks, not how people felt. Do not expect a quick effect.
Responses vary between people, and some people notice nothing. Take it consistently if you want to judge it fairly.
Should I take NMN with food?
Directions differ between brands. Charava suggests taking it with water in the morning, and Double Wood suggests taking it with food.
Follow the instructions on the product you buy, and take it with food if it upsets your stomach.
Can I take NMN with other supplements?
NMN is often taken alongside other supplements, but there is little trial data on combinations. We are not aware of well-established interactions.
If you take prescribed medication or have a health condition, check with your pharmacist or GP first.
What the research shows
Does NMN raise NAD+ levels?
Yes. Oral NMN has repeatedly been shown to raise blood NAD or NAD-related markers in human trials.
That shows NMN is biologically active in humans. It does not by itself show a health benefit.
Can NMN reverse ageing?
No. We are not aware of any human evidence that NMN reverses ageing or extends lifespan.
Be wary of products that promise to slow ageing or rejuvenate cells. The evidence does not go that far.
Does NMN improve energy, sleep or focus?
The evidence is mixed and unproven. Systematic reviews found NMN raised NAD-related biomarkers but reported much less consistent effects on clinically meaningful outcomes.
Some people report feeling a difference and others do not, so treat such claims as individual experience, not established benefit.
Are there any approved health claims for NMN in the UK?
To our knowledge, no health claim for NMN is authorised in the UK.
That means products should not promise specific health benefits. Compare the dose, purity, testing and price instead.
Safety and regulation
Is NMN safe?
Published short-term human studies have generally reported NMN to be well tolerated, including a four-week study at 1,250mg a day.
Long-term safety over years has not been established.
Who should speak to a doctor before taking NMN?
Speak to your GP or pharmacist first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, taking prescribed medication, or being treated for a medical condition.
This applies to every NMN product, whatever the brand says.
Can I take NMN while pregnant or breastfeeding?
There is not enough research to recommend NMN during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Speak to your midwife, GP or pharmacist before using any supplement during this time.
Is NMN legal in the UK?
NMN is being assessed as a novel food in Great Britain. The Food Standards Agency's register lists the application for β-nicotinamide mononucleotide (RP-2116) as in risk assessment, as at 20 October 2026.
Novel foods must be authorised before they can be marketed, so ask any seller how they are meeting that requirement.
Is NMN vegan?
NMN itself is made synthetically or by fermentation, so it does not need animal ingredients. The capsule matters: Charava uses a vegetable (hypromellose) capsule, and Neurogan uses a vegetable cellulose capsule.
Check the label of any other product for capsule and ingredient details.
