Best TUDCA Supplements UK 2026: Eight Products Scored on the Evidence
Eight TUDCA (tauroursodeoxycholic acid) supplements sold to UK buyers, scored mainly on purity and source disclosure, fillers and additives, testing and label warnings, with price as a minor factor.
TUDCA capsules look alike, but what their pages tell you is very different.
Daily amounts range from 500mg to 1,500mg. Only two of the 8 products say how their TUDCA is made, only two give a purity figure, and only three publish third-party test results we could read. Some list no added ingredients; one lists six. Several product pages give no warning for pregnancy or for people with gallbladder conditions.
This guide explains what TUDCA is, how it differs from the prescription medicine UDCA, the safety points to check, and what to look for on a label. Products are ranked only by the weighted scores in our scoring table, using the method described below.

Scores by criterion
Each product is scored 0 to 10 on every criterion. The weighted total out of 100 (the absolute score) sets the ranking. Weights were fixed before scoring and are the same for every product: 90% is on purity disclosure, dose, fillers, testing and labelling, and 10% on price per daily serving. Anything a page does not disclose scores 0 for that item and is shown as "not disclosed": we never assume a source, an ingredient or a test we cannot see. Each product also shows a relative score (top product = 100): its absolute score divided by the top product's absolute score, multiplied by 100 (see how relative scores work). Evidence was checked on 1 November 2026. Full method.

Only three products publish test results we could read, so five of 8 score 0 for testing; of those three, only one ties its certificates to a lot number and names an accredited lab. The top two products are 4.4 points apart on absolute score. Price per daily serving uses the smallest directed daily amount, which ranges from 500mg to 1,500mg of TUDCA, so daily costs are not like-for-like doses.
TUDCA: what it is and what has been studied
TUDCA (tauroursodeoxycholic acid) is a bile acid formed when ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) is joined to the amino acid taurine. The body makes small amounts. Supplement TUDCA can be made by chemical synthesis or produced from animal bile, which is why a stated source and purity matter when you compare products.
No nutrition or health claim is authorised for TUDCA in Great Britain. The research below is described so you know what has been studied. It is not a claim that any product in this guide has any effect, and none of these studies tested the products here.
No authorised claims
The GB nutrition and health claims register has no authorised health claim for TUDCA. Statements on product pages about liver support, bile flow, detox, the brain or insulin are not authorised claims.
Research on liver conditions
TUDCA has been studied as a treatment in people with liver disease under medical supervision, for example in a small randomised trial in patients with liver cirrhosis in China. These were patients in a clinical study, not healthy people taking a food supplement.
Research in neurological disease
TUDCA has been studied in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), alone and combined with sodium phenylbutyrate. A later, larger trial of the combination did not confirm benefit, and a 2024 review describes it as "a story of hope turned to disappointment".
Elia et al., 2016 · Paganoni et al., 2020 · Ketabforoush et al., 2024
Research on metabolism
A small study in adults with obesity measured insulin sensitivity in liver and muscle after four weeks of TUDCA. Reviews also list laboratory and early clinical research in other conditions. Most of this work is small, short-term or in animals and cells.
These points describe published research on TUDCA generally. They are not health claims and not claims about any product in this guide.
Safety points to check before you buy
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Do not take TUDCA if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless a doctor advises it. There is little safety information for TUDCA in pregnancy. The UK product information for UDCA, the related prescription medicine, says it must not be used in pregnancy unless clearly necessary.
Gallbladder, bile duct and liver conditions
If you have gallstones, a gallbladder or bile duct condition, or a liver condition, speak to your doctor before taking TUDCA. UDCA is not used in people with a blocked bile duct, an inflamed gallbladder or bile ducts, or frequent biliary colic. Only four of the 8 product pages we read mention gallbladder or liver conditions.
Medicines
If you take any medication, speak to your doctor or pharmacist first. UDCA is known to interact with some medicines, including ciclosporin, some cholesterol-lowering drugs and antacids containing aluminium. TUDCA has not been studied as thoroughly, so do not assume it is free of interactions, whatever a product page says.
TUDCA is not a substitute for UDCA
UDCA (ursodeoxycholic acid) is a prescription-only medicine in the UK, used for conditions such as primary biliary cholangitis and some gallstones under medical supervision. TUDCA should not replace UDCA or any other prescribed treatment. If you take UDCA, do not add TUDCA without asking your doctor.
TUDCA is not for children. Of the products here, Pureclinica is labelled for adults only, Charava and Double Wood say not for under-18s, and Vinco tells under-18s to consult a GP; the other pages give no age guidance. Keep to the directed dose, and stop and seek medical advice if you have side effects.
What to look for in a TUDCA supplement
01. A stated source and purity
Look for how the TUDCA is made (for example synthetic, from UDCA and taurine) and a purity figure. Only two products here state a source and one states purity.
02. A certificate you can read
"Third-party tested" means little without a certificate of analysis that shows the batch, the measured TUDCA content and contaminant results, ideally from an accredited lab.
03. The amount per capsule and per day
Daily amounts here range from 500mg (one capsule) to 1,500mg (three capsules). Check both figures, and how many capsules make a serving.
04. Few fillers and additives
Check the full ingredient list. Bulking agents (rice flour, microcrystalline cellulose, dicalcium phosphate) and anti-caking agents (magnesium or vegetable stearate, silica) are common; each is something other than TUDCA.
05. Clear warnings
A responsible label covers pregnancy and breastfeeding, medication, gallbladder or liver conditions, and age. Be wary of any page that says a product does not interact with medicines.
06. The capsule
Hypromellose (HPMC) and cellulose capsules suit vegetarians and vegans; gelatin capsules usually do not. One product here uses bovine gelatin.
Label claims to treat with caution
Liver, detox and bile-flow claims
No health claim is authorised for TUDCA in Great Britain, so statements about liver support, detox, repair or bile flow are not authorised claims.
Gallstone and medical claims
Food supplements may not claim to prevent, treat or cure disease. Be wary of any page that says TUDCA dissolves gallstones or treats a condition.
"Not known to interact"
The related medicine UDCA has known interactions. A statement that a TUDCA product does not react with medication is not a reason to skip asking your pharmacist.
Conflicting numbers
If a per-day price does not match the pack price, or a title could be read as per capsule when it is per serving, check the label before buying.
Eight TUDCA supplements, in score order
Products appear in order of their absolute score from the scoring table. We read each product page, and any testing documents and label images on it, on 1 November 2026. Amazon prices are the listed one-off price on that date. We have not bought or tested these products ourselves.

Charava Tudca 500mg
One 500mg capsule a day with only a hypromellose capsule added, third-party results from Light Labs, a full set of warnings and a purity figure stated by Charava (>99%) that no certificate we saw confirms. The source is not stated. Sold out when we checked.
Reasons to choose it
- Ingredient list is TUDCA and a hypromellose capsule only; the brand states filler-free.
- Third-party results from Light Labs, an ISO 17025-accredited lab, are linked from the product page: TUDCA content, four heavy metals and seven microbial tests, all within the limits set by Charava.
- Stated by Charava as ">99% pure Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid".
- The FAQ gives pregnancy, medication, gallbladder and age warnings and names medicines to discuss with a doctor, including UDCA.
- States vegan, gluten-free and allergen-free, and UK-made; one capsule a day.
Points to consider
- All pack sizes were sold out when we checked on 1 November 2026.
- The test results are not tied to a lot or batch number, and they show results against limits (for example "≥ 500mg per serving", "< 0.5 micrograms") rather than measured amounts. The >99% purity figure is Charava’s own statement: the Light Labs report does not give a purity percentage, and the TUDCA source (synthetic or bile-derived) is not stated.
- The page says the product is "Tested at every stage of production"; the published report shows three test dates against Charava’s own limits.
- The per-day figures shown on the page (£0.80 for 90 days) do not match the pack prices (£0.90).
- The page uses claims such as "Supports Liver Health" and "improving insulin sensitivity", which are not authorised.
Our verdict: Full marks on fillers and warnings, published third-party results and a stated purity figure. It loses points for an unstated source, no certificate confirming the purity figure, no batch-matched results and a higher price per day.
Double Wood Supplements TUDCA

Strengths
- Only product here that states both its production route (fully synthetic) and a purity figure (99%+).
- Readable certificates of analysis: a lot-specific COA on the product page and a third-party report from a lab accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.
- Clearest warnings here, including pregnancy, under-18s, and people with gallbladder issues or on prescription medicines.
Considerations
- Three additives: rice flour, vegetable stearate and silica, and a bovine gelatin capsule, so not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
- Highest cost per daily serving here (£1.10 at the UK retailer, single bottle only).
- The brand page does not give the amount per capsule (500mg is per 2 capsules), and a brand Q&A answer describes dissolving gallstones, which is a medicinal claim.
- Made in the USA; bought in the UK through a retailer rather than from the brand.
Our verdict: The best-documented TUDCA in this guide: stated source, stated purity and readable lab results. You pay for it in additives and price.
Pureclinica TUDCA 500mg x 60 Capsules

Strengths
- Only rice flour is added, in a hypromellose capsule; the brand states no magnesium stearate, silica or microcrystalline cellulose.
- States how its TUDCA is made (taurine bonded with UDCA, then recrystallised).
- Complete warnings: adults only, pregnancy, breastfeeding, medication and a gallbladder caution.
Considerations
- Batch testing is described but no certificate of analysis is published, so testing scores 0.
- No purity percentage, and no allergen or gluten statement on the page.
- The page calls the 60-capsule bottle a "3-month supply" in its title but a two-month supply in the text.
Our verdict: A short ingredient list with the most complete warnings of the UK brands. Publishing its batch certificates would close most of the gap to No. 1.
Nootropics Depot TUDCA Capsules 500mg

Strengths
- Nine lot-specific certificates of analysis on the product page; the three we read show 525mg TUDCA per capsule and pass heavy-metal limits.
- States vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free.
- One capsule a day.
Considerations
- No pregnancy, medication, gallbladder or age warning on the product page.
- The other ingredients (microcrystalline cellulose and magnesium stearate) appear only on the certificates, not on the product page.
- US seller priced in dollars: UK shipping times, import VAT and any duty are extra and not included in our price.
- The certificates do not name the testing laboratory.
Our verdict: Strong, readable batch testing, but the product page gives UK buyers no safety warnings and the price excludes import costs.
Nutri Peak TUDCA 1500mg

Strengths
- Ingredient list is TUDCA and a cellulose capsule only.
- Warnings cover pregnancy, breastfeeding, medication and, on the 2-pack listing, liver or gallbladder conditions.
- States vegetarian, gluten-free and sugar-free.
Considerations
- No source, purity or certificate of analysis.
- Three capsules a day, and the amount per capsule is not stated.
- No age or do-not-exceed statement.
- Listing uses claims such as "liver cleanse, detox and repair", which are not authorised.
Our verdict: A clean ingredient list and reasonable warnings at a high daily amount, but nothing published to check purity or content.
Vinco Tudca 1200mg

Strengths
- Ingredient list is TUDCA and a hypromellose capsule only.
- States vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free, and made in the UK in a GMP facility.
- Second-lowest cost per daily serving here.
Considerations
- No source, purity or certificate of analysis.
- No specific medication or gallbladder warning.
- The amount per capsule is not stated, and the title "1200mg - 60 Capsules" could be read as per capsule.
- Listing claims such as "Naturally Removes Toxins" are not authorised.
Our verdict: A clean two-ingredient label at a fair price, held back by missing source, testing and medication warnings.
Pro Elite TUDCA Vegan Capsules

Strengths
- Ingredient list is TUDCA and an HPMC capsule, and the seller states no fillers, binders or anti-caking agents.
- Vegan capsule.
- In stock in three sizes from a UK retailer.
Considerations
- No pregnancy, medication, gallbladder or age warning.
- No source, purity or certificate of analysis.
- Directions say "1 servings daily" and "1-2 capsules", so the daily amount is 500mg or 1,000mg.
- Page lists "Neuroprotective agent" and "Gallbladder support", which are not authorised claims.
Our verdict: A clean ingredient list, but the weakest safety labelling of the filler-free products here.
Flowzuk TUDCA 500mg Capsules

Strengths
- Lowest cost per daily serving in this comparison.
- Warnings cover pregnancy, breastfeeding, medication and medical conditions.
- States vegan, gluten-free and made in Britain.
Considerations
- Six added ingredients: rice flour, dicalcium phosphate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, olive oil and silicon dioxide.
- No source, purity or certificate of analysis.
- Capsule material is not named ("vegan capsule").
- No gallbladder or age warning.
Our verdict: Excellent value, but price counts for only 10% here. The most additives of any product, and nothing published on purity or testing.
Comparisons refer to the named product and pack, not the brand's whole range. Specifications, prices and stock can change; we last checked them on 1 November 2026. "Not disclosed" means we could not find it on the pages we read, not that a product is untested or poor quality.

TUDCA: your questions answered
TUDCA, safety and this guide
What is TUDCA?
TUDCA (tauroursodeoxycholic acid) is a bile acid: ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) joined to the amino acid taurine. The body makes small amounts. Supplement TUDCA is made either by chemical synthesis or from animal bile; only two products in this guide say how theirs is made, and two give a purity figure (neither confirmed by a published certificate). TUDCA has been studied in laboratory work and in some clinical trials, but no health claim is authorised for it in Great Britain, so we make no claims about what these products do.
What is the difference between TUDCA and UDCA?
UDCA (ursodeoxycholic acid) is a prescription-only medicine in the UK. Its licensed uses include primary biliary cholangitis and dissolving certain gallstones, under medical supervision. TUDCA is UDCA joined to taurine and is sold here as a food supplement. They are not interchangeable: TUDCA should not replace UDCA or any medicine you have been prescribed, and you should not start TUDCA alongside UDCA without speaking to your doctor.
Who should not take TUDCA?
None of the products here should be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding without medical advice, and TUDCA is not for children. If you have a gallbladder or bile duct condition, a liver condition, or take any medication, speak to your doctor or pharmacist first. Only three of the eight product pages we read mention gallbladder or liver conditions.
How did you choose and score the products?
We looked for single-ingredient TUDCA capsules sold to UK buyers and verified 8 on live product pages on 1 November 2026: brand sites, UK retailers and Amazon UK listings, including Charava. We scored each on seven fixed criteria weighted 90% on quality and labelling and 10% on price per daily serving. Anything a page did not disclose scored 0. We did not buy or test the products ourselves.
Why is the top product not the cheapest?
Price counts for only 10% of the score. The top product scores highest on quality: no added ingredients besides the capsule, complete warnings, third-party test results from an accredited lab and a stated purity figure. Cheaper products lose more points on fillers, testing or warnings than they gain on price.
Do you earn money from this guide?
We may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. This doesn't affect how we rank products: every product is assessed with the same method. We scored every product with the same fixed criteria and weights, and we show every score.
Check the warnings and the testing, then the ingredient list
TUDCA is a bile acid with no authorised health claims in Great Britain. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a gallbladder, bile duct or liver condition, or take any medication, including UDCA, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking it.
Charava Tudca 500mg scores highest (81.4/100): no added ingredients besides the capsule, complete warnings, third-party test results from an accredited lab, and a purity figure stated by the brand (>99%) that no published certificate confirms. It does not say how its TUDCA is made, its results are not tied to a batch, and it was sold out when we checked. Double Wood Supplements TUDCA is 4.4 points behind; it is the only product that states both its production route and purity and publishes lot-matched certificates from an accredited lab, but it lists three added ingredients and costs more per day. Five of the 8 products publish no test results we could read, and only two state how their TUDCA is made. Price per daily serving counts for 10% of the score, so the cheapest product does not lead.
How we score products
We compared 8 single-ingredient TUDCA capsule products available to UK buyers, using each product page, its label images and any testing documents linked from it, read on 1 November 2026. Each product was scored 0 to 10 on seven criteria. The weights and point rules were fixed before scoring and are identical for every product. If a page does not disclose something, that item scores 0 and we say "not disclosed": we never assume a source, an ingredient or a test we cannot see. Where a page states that a product contains no fillers and its ingredient list shows none, we take the list as stated.
- TUDCA purity and source disclosure (20%). Production route or source stated, such as synthetic or made from UDCA and taurine (4 points); a numeric purity figure stated (3); identity or TUDCA content shown on a readable certificate of analysis (3).
- Dose and label transparency (15%). TUDCA per daily serving stated (3); TUDCA per capsule stated (2); no conflicting dose figures (3); capsules and servings per pack stated (2, or 1 if only one is given).
- Fillers and additives (20%). Starts at 10. We deduct 2 points for each bulking agent or filler (such as rice flour, microcrystalline cellulose or dicalcium phosphate), anti-caking or flow agent (magnesium or vegetable stearate, silica or silicon dioxide), sweetener, preservative or colour; and 1 point for each emulsifier, flavouring, antioxidant, acidity regulator, or processing aid or oil. The capsule shell and the TUDCA itself are not deducted. Minimum 0.
- Testing and certificates (15%). A certificate of analysis for this product published and read by us (6); an accredited laboratory identified on it (2); certificates matched to batches on sale, such as a lot lookup or lot-specific certificates (2). Statements such as "third-party tested" score 0.
- Label and safety warnings (15%). Complete ingredient list using ingredient names (2, or 1 if partial); a pregnancy or breastfeeding warning (2); a medication caution (2); a gallbladder, bile duct or liver-condition caution (2); an age statement such as adults only or not for under-18s (1); a do-not-exceed statement (1). A statement playing down medication interactions loses 2 points.
- Capsule, vegan and allergen clarity (5%). Capsule material named (4); vegan or vegetarian status stated or clear (3); an allergen or gluten statement (3).
- Price per daily serving (10%). 10 × (lowest price per daily serving ÷ this product's price per daily serving). Price is based on each brand's 3-pack price divided by 3 to give a single-pack price, then per daily serving; where no 3-pack is sold we use the single-pack price. We use one-off prices, not subscriptions, excluding delivery, from the page a UK buyer would order from. One serving is the smallest directed daily amount, so the amount of TUDCA per day differs between products.
Relative scores (top product = 100). A product's relative score is its absolute score (weighted total out of 100) divided by the absolute score of the top product in this guide, multiplied by 100 and rounded to one decimal place. It shows how each product compares with the best one we assessed. It is not a percentage of our criteria met: the top product, Charava Tudca 500mg, scored 81.4/100 on our absolute criteria. The same calculation is applied to every product, so it does not change the order. Each product's absolute score is shown next to its relative score and in the scoring table.
We also looked at other products. We could not verify Nutricost TUDCA on a live UK page when we checked, and TUDCA combined with NAC or other ingredients (for example from Supplement Needs and Applied Nutrition) was left out so the comparison is like for like. We found no TUDCA product from Naturecan, Nutrition Geeks or Love Life Supplements. The ranking is an editorial judgement based on these scores. It is not a clinical comparison, an independent certification or a laboratory test, and we did not buy or test any product. Every product is scored the same way. Commission is explained in the note at the top of this page.
