Best Tongkat Ali Supplements UK 2026: Seven Products Scored on the Evidence
Seven Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia) root extract supplements sold to UK buyers, scored mainly on extract standardisation, fillers and additives, testing and label warnings, with price as a minor factor.
Tongkat Ali labels use the same words, "200:1", "2% eurycomanone", "root extract", but what they disclose varies widely.
Daily amounts range from 200mg to 1,000mg of extract. 5 of the 7 products publish test results we could read, and only one ties an in-date certificate from an accredited lab to a named batch. Some list no added ingredients; one lists three fillers. Three product pages give no pregnancy or medication warning at all.
This guide explains what Tongkat Ali is, what has been studied, the safety points to check, and what to look for on a label. Products are ranked only by the weighted scores in our scoring table, using the method described below.

Scores by criterion
Each product is scored 0 to 10 on every criterion. The weighted total out of 100 (the absolute score) sets the ranking. Weights were fixed before scoring and are the same for every product: 90% is on extract standardisation, dose, fillers, testing and labelling, and 10% on price per daily serving. Anything a page does not disclose scores 0 for that item and is shown as "not disclosed": we never assume an origin, an ingredient or a test we cannot see. Each product also shows a relative score (top product = 100): its absolute score divided by the top product's absolute score, multiplied by 100 (see how relative scores work). Evidence was checked on 1 November 2026. Full method.

The top 4 products are within 4.7 points of each other on absolute score, so small differences in disclosure decide the order; the top two are 0.8 points apart. 2 of 7 products publish no test results and score 0 for testing. Price per daily serving uses the smallest directed daily amount, which ranges from 200mg to 602mg of extract (400mg for the two-capsule product), so daily costs are not like-for-like doses.
Tongkat Ali: what it is and what has been studied
Tongkat Ali is the common name for Eurycoma longifolia, a shrub that grows in Malaysia, Indonesia and neighbouring countries. Supplements use extracts of the root, usually made with hot water or a water and ethanol mix. Extracts are described by a ratio (such as 200:1) or by the level of marker compounds: eurycomanone, or glycosaponins and eurypeptides in some branded extracts such as Physta® and LJ100®.
No nutrition or health claim is authorised for Tongkat Ali in Great Britain. The research below is described so you know what has been studied. It is not a claim that any product in this guide has any effect, and none of these studies tested the products here.
No authorised claims
The GB nutrition and health claims register has no authorised health claim for Tongkat Ali or Eurycoma longifolia. Statements on product pages about testosterone, libido, fertility, muscle, energy, performance or stress are not authorised claims.
Research on hormone measurements
A 2022 systematic review and meta-analysis pooled small clinical trials that measured testosterone in men taking Eurycoma longifolia extracts. The trials were small and differed in design, extract and dose.
Other small studies
Small, short trials, several using one manufacturer's extract, have looked at mood and stress-hormone questionnaires in adults and at measures in physically active older adults. Results from studies like these cannot be applied to other extracts or products.
Safety research
Reviews describe the plant's chemistry and its laboratory and animal toxicology. In 2021 the European Food Safety Authority assessed one standardised water extract of the root and concluded that its safety had not been established, partly because a laboratory test indicated a possible potential to damage DNA.
These points describe published research on Eurycoma longifolia generally. They are not health claims and not claims about any product in this guide.
Safety points to check before you buy
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and under-18s
Do not take Tongkat Ali if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and do not give it to anyone under 18. There is no adequate safety information for these groups. Three of the 7 product pages we read do not mention pregnancy at all.
Medicines
If you take any medication, speak to your doctor or pharmacist first. In a small study in healthy volunteers, a water-based Eurycoma longifolia extract reduced how much of the blood-pressure medicine propranolol reached the bloodstream. Interactions with other medicines have not been well studied.
Hormone-sensitive and other conditions
Because Tongkat Ali has been studied for effects on hormone measurements, speak to your doctor before taking it if you have a hormone-sensitive condition, such as prostate or breast cancer, or a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, diabetes, or a liver or kidney condition. A case of liver injury linked to a Tongkat Ali product has been reported.
Contamination and adulteration
Studies of Tongkat Ali products sold in Malaysia found mercury above permitted limits in some of them, and a UK-based study screened Eurycoma longifolia products for an undeclared sildenafil-type drug and detected it in some samples. This is why readable, batch-specific certificates for heavy metals matter.
Keep to the directed dose and any daily maximum on the label. Some brands suggest taking breaks ("cycling"); there is no agreed evidence on how long to take Tongkat Ali for, so ask your doctor if you plan to take it long-term. Stop and seek medical advice if you have side effects.
What to look for in a Tongkat Ali supplement
01. A measured marker, not just a ratio
"200:1" only describes how concentrated the extract is. Look for a stated eurycomanone, or glycosaponin and eurypeptide, percentage, ideally confirmed on a certificate.
02. A certificate you can read
"Third-party tested" means little without a certificate of analysis showing the batch, heavy metals (lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury) and the marker compound, from an accredited lab and in date.
03. The amount per capsule and per day
Daily amounts here range from 200mg to 1,000mg of extract. Check both figures, and that they agree.
04. Few fillers and additives
Check the full ingredient list. Rice flour, microcrystalline cellulose, maltodextrin, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide are common; each is something other than Tongkat Ali.
05. Clear warnings
A responsible label covers pregnancy and breastfeeding, under-18s, medication, hormone-sensitive and other medical conditions, and a daily maximum.
06. Root, origin and extraction
Look for the plant part (root), the country of origin and how it was extracted (for example hot water). Fewer than half the products here state all three.
Label claims to treat with caution
Testosterone, libido and fertility claims
No health claim is authorised for Tongkat Ali in Great Britain, so statements that a product raises testosterone or improves libido or fertility are not authorised claims.
Muscle, energy and performance claims
The same applies to claims about muscle growth, energy, stamina or athletic performance. "Not banned" or "safe for competition" statements are not a guarantee for tested athletes.
Comparisons with medicines
Food supplements may not claim to treat or replace a medicine. Be wary of any page or review that compares a supplement with a prescription drug.
Conflicting numbers
If the serving size, the capsules per day and the mg per capsule do not agree, or a test result does not match the label, ask the brand before buying.
Seven Tongkat Ali supplements, in score order
Products appear in order of their absolute score from the scoring table. We read each product page, and any testing documents and label images linked from it, on 1 November 2026. Where a brand states something we could not verify, we say it is stated by the brand. We have not bought or tested these products ourselves.

SuperBotanic Performance Booster Tongkat Ali (Physta®)
Two 200mg Physta® capsules a day with no added ingredients besides the capsule, and readable certificates for heavy metals and eurycomanone from accredited labs, including one for a batch with a 2028 use-by date.
Reasons to choose it
- The most complete testing here: heavy metals and microbiology for a named in-date batch, and eurycomanone measured by a lab accredited to ISO/IEC 17025.
- No fillers or flow agents listed: the extract and the capsule only.
- Uses Physta®, a branded root extract that has been used in published research (not a claim about this product).
Points to consider
- Highest cost per daily serving here (£1.00), because the directed amount is two capsules.
- The page names the capsule as HPMC, but the label image says pullulan.
- No age guidance, no do-not-exceed statement and no specific caution for hormone-sensitive, heart or blood-pressure conditions.
- The page makes energy, testosterone, fertility, libido and muscle claims that are not authorised in Great Britain (stated by SuperBotanic).
Our verdict: The best-documented product here on testing and ingredients. It costs the most per day and its warnings are thinner than some cheaper options.
BioVerve Indonesian Tongkat Ali Extract Capsules 400mg

Strengths
- Low cost per daily serving: £0.24 using the 3-bottle discount.
- States the plant part, country of origin, extraction method and eurycomanone percentage.
- A report from an accredited lab with eurycomanone and heavy-metal results is published on the brand's site.
Considerations
- Contains silicon dioxide, a flow agent.
- The published reports are image crops with no lot number, so they cannot be matched to the batch on sale.
- No specific caution for hormone-sensitive, heart or blood-pressure conditions; no allergen statement.
Our verdict: A strong all-round option at a low price. Testing is good but cannot be tied to the batch you would receive.
AKARALI Tongkat Ali (Physta®) 200mg Capsules

Strengths
- The most detailed extract information here: a branded hot-water root extract with origin and four standardisation figures.
- The most complete warnings here, including hormone-sensitive conditions, heart and diabetes cautions and a daily maximum.
- A readable Eurofins certificate covering heavy metals, microbiology and a screen for steroids and similar substances.
Considerations
- The published certificate is for a lot that expired in March 2026, so it scores 0 for matching current stock.
- Maltodextrin is added, and the full ingredient list and capsule material are not on the product page.
- Product pages make testosterone, fertility, muscle and "almost-guaranteed gains" claims that are not authorised in Great Britain (stated by AKARALI).
Our verdict: Excellent disclosure and warnings. An up-to-date certificate for current stock would make it hard to beat.
Stronglife Tongkat Ali Capsules 200:1

Strengths
- Lowest cost per daily serving here (£0.17 for one capsule).
- No fillers or flow agents listed; pullulan capsule; vegan, gluten-free and halal stated.
- A heavy-metal test report from SGS is published on the brand's site.
Considerations
- Conflicting dose information: the serving is 2 capsules, but the page also says 1 to 2 a day, and mg per capsule is not given.
- The SGS report has no batch number, shows no accreditation and measured taurine far above what the label implies.
- No origin or extraction method stated; no specific caution for hormone-sensitive, heart or blood-pressure conditions.
Our verdict: Very cheap and cleanly formulated, but the dose wording and the test report raise questions to put to the brand.
Nootropics Depot Tongkat Ali Extract Capsules (2% Eurycomanone)

Strengths
- Certificates for individual lots, with eurycomanone content and heavy-metal results.
- Clear dose: 200mg per capsule, one a day, 60 per bottle.
- Vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free stated.
Considerations
- Three fillers: microcrystalline cellulose, rice hull concentrate and rice protein.
- No safety warnings on the product page.
- Priced in US dollars; shipping and UK import VAT or duty are extra. The page makes testosterone and muscle claims (stated by Nootropics Depot).
Our verdict: Good lot-level testing at a low price, let down by fillers and the absence of warnings.
Clean Supplements UK Malaysian Tongkat Ali 200:1

Strengths
- States the eurycomanone amount in milligrams per capsule.
- No binders or fillers stated.
- Made in Britain.
Considerations
- No certificate of analysis or test results published.
- Warnings limited to a do-not-exceed statement.
- Capsule material and plant part not named; one of the highest costs per day here.
Our verdict: A simple formula, but there is nothing to verify it and the warnings are minimal.
Sport Asylum LJ100® Capsules

Strengths
- Uses LJ100®, a branded root extract with stated eurypeptide and glycosaponin levels.
- Clear dose and pack information; HPMC (vegetarian) capsule.
Considerations
- Two additives: rice flour and magnesium stearate.
- No certificate of analysis published.
- Warnings limited to a do-not-exceed statement; the label carries a US FDA disclaimer rather than UK wording.
Our verdict: A recognised extract, but the least well-documented product here on testing and warnings.
Comparisons refer to the named product and pack, not the brand's whole range. Specifications, prices and stock can change; we last checked them on 1 November 2026. "Not disclosed" means we could not find it on the pages we read, not that a product is untested or poor quality.

Tongkat Ali: your questions answered
Tongkat Ali, safety and this guide
What is Tongkat Ali?
Tongkat Ali is the common name for Eurycoma longifolia, a shrub native to South-East Asia. Supplements use extracts of its root. Extracts are often described by a ratio (such as 200:1, the amount of raw root used to make the extract) or by the percentage of marker compounds, such as eurycomanone or glycosaponins and eurypeptides. A ratio on its own does not tell you how much of these compounds the extract contains.
Does Tongkat Ali have any approved health claims?
No. There is no authorised nutrition or health claim for Tongkat Ali in Great Britain, so statements on product pages about testosterone, libido, fertility, muscle, energy or stress are not authorised claims. We make no claims about what any product does.
Who should not take Tongkat Ali?
Do not take Tongkat Ali if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and it is not for under-18s. If you take any medication, have a hormone-sensitive condition (such as prostate or breast cancer), a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, diabetes, or a liver or kidney condition, speak to your doctor or pharmacist first.
What does "200:1" or "2% eurycomanone" mean?
"200:1" means about 200 parts of raw root went into 1 part of extract; it does not measure what the extract contains. "2% eurycomanone" means the extract is standardised to contain 2% of eurycomanone, one of the plant's marker compounds. Some branded extracts are standardised to glycosaponins and eurypeptides instead. A certificate of analysis that measures the marker is stronger evidence than a label statement.
How did you choose and score the products?
We looked for single-ingredient Tongkat Ali capsules sold to UK buyers, checked Charava first (it does not sell Tongkat Ali) and verified 7 products on live brand pages on 1 November 2026. We scored each on seven fixed criteria weighted 90% on quality and labelling and 10% on price per daily serving. Anything a page did not disclose scored 0. We did not buy or test the products ourselves.
Why is the top product not the cheapest?
Price counts for only 10% of the score. Products score more for published, readable test results, a short ingredient list, clear standardisation and complete warnings. Cheaper products here lose more points on testing, fillers or warnings than they gain on price.
Do you earn money from this guide?
We may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. This doesn't affect how we rank products: every product is assessed with the same method. We scored every product with the same fixed criteria and weights, and we show every score.
Check the warnings and the testing, then the ingredient list
Tongkat Ali has no authorised health claims in Great Britain. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, take any medication, or have a hormone-sensitive condition, a heart condition, blood-pressure problems or diabetes, speak to your doctor before taking it.
SuperBotanic Performance Booster Tongkat Ali (Physta®) has the highest score (80.2/100) because it publishes in-date, batch-matched certificates from accredited labs and lists nothing but the extract and the capsule. BioVerve Indonesian Tongkat Ali Extract Capsules 400mg is 0.8 points behind at a much lower cost per day, and AKARALI Tongkat Ali (Physta®) 200mg Capsules has the most complete warnings and extract details. Price per daily serving counts for 10% of the score, so the cheapest product does not lead.
How we score products
We compared 7 single-ingredient Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia root extract) capsule products available to UK buyers, using each product page, its label images and any testing documents linked from the brand's site, read on 1 November 2026. Each product was scored 0 to 10 on seven criteria. The weights and point rules were fixed before scoring and are identical for every product. If a page does not disclose something, that item scores 0 and we say "not disclosed". Figures a brand states are credited the same way for every brand, and described as stated by the brand where we could not verify them.
- Extract standardisation and form (20%). A marker-compound percentage (eurycomanone, or glycosaponins and eurypeptides) stated on the page or on a published certificate (4 points); a named patented or branded extract (2); plant part (root) stated (1); country of origin stated (1); extraction method or solvent stated (1); extract ratio stated (1).
- Dose and label transparency (15%). Extract per daily serving stated (3); extract per capsule stated (2); no conflicting dose figures (3); capsules and servings per pack stated (2, or 1 if only one is given).
- Fillers and additives (20%). Starts at 10. We deduct 2 points for each bulking agent or filler (such as rice flour, microcrystalline cellulose, maltodextrin or rice protein), anti-caking or flow agent (magnesium or vegetable stearate, silicon dioxide, rice hull concentrate), sweetener, preservative or colour; and 1 point for each emulsifier, flavouring, antioxidant, acidity regulator, or processing aid or oil. The capsule shell, the extract and any declared active ingredient are not deducted. Minimum 0.
- Testing and certificates (15%). A readable test report or certificate of analysis for this product published (4); lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury results on it (2); the lab's accreditation shown (2); results matched to batches on sale, such as an in-date lot-specific certificate (2). A certificate for a lot past its expiry date scores 0 for batch matching. Statements such as "third-party tested" score 0.
- Label and safety warnings (15%). Complete ingredient list (2, or 1 if partial); a pregnancy or breastfeeding warning (2); a medication caution (2); a specific caution for hormone-sensitive, heart, blood-pressure, diabetes or liver conditions (2); an age statement such as not for under-18s (1); a do-not-exceed statement (1). Warnings on the brand's own pages linked from the product page count. A statement playing down risks or interactions loses 2 points.
- Capsule, vegan and allergen clarity (5%). Capsule material named (4); vegan or vegetarian status stated (3); an allergen or gluten statement (3).
- Price per daily serving (10%). 10 × (lowest price per daily serving ÷ this product's price per daily serving). Price is based on each brand's 3-pack price divided by 3 to give a single-pack price, then per daily serving; where no 3-pack is sold we use the single-pack price. We use one-off prices, not subscriptions, excluding delivery, from the page a UK buyer would order from. One serving is the smallest directed daily amount, so the amount of extract per day differs between products.
Relative scores (top product = 100). A product's relative score is its absolute score (weighted total out of 100) divided by the absolute score of the top product in this guide, multiplied by 100 and rounded to one decimal place. It shows how each product compares with the best one we assessed. It is not a percentage of our criteria met: the top product, SuperBotanic Performance Booster Tongkat Ali (Physta®), scored 80.2/100 on our absolute criteria. The same calculation is applied to every product, so it does not change the order.
We also looked at other products. Charava does not sell a Tongkat Ali product. We could not find a UK seller for Double Wood's LJ100® Tongkat Ali from the brand or an authorised UK retailer when we checked. We left out one UK brand whose Tongkat Ali page promoted products that are not food supplements, and Amazon UK listings whose sellers and labels we could not verify. Products combining Tongkat Ali with other ingredients (such as zinc or Fadogia agrestis) were left out so the comparison is like for like, and we included one product per brand. The ranking is an editorial judgement based on these scores. It is not a clinical comparison, an independent certification or a laboratory test, and we did not buy or test any product. Commission is explained in the note at the top of this page.
